TELLING, Documentary Series (Dec. 2022)
The documentary series "Telling" has already started filming in 2022. Curtains Belong To Willow Movie Theatre (Aug. 2022 )
After the glass bricks and chairs, we find another item that once belonged to the willow movie theatre - curtains ( the largest, the yellow drape at the back in the picture). Unlike the first two, it is also used in The Highlands Theatre, which is located at 4131 Kawartha Lakes County Rd 121, Kinmount, ON. Special thanks to Keith Stata, the owner of The Highlands Theatre, for providing us with curtain's photos. His story is a legend in my eyes. If you want to know more about Mr. Stata's story , please check it through following links 1. https://vimeo.com/673382809/fff8b67e98

Glass Blocks Belong To Willow Movie Theatre (Jun. 2022)
We are so glad to receive a photo of glass blocks from Willow Movie Theatre’s building. Lynda Wood Hunt, a previous North York resident, provides it to us. These three glass blocks are from the side windows by the phone booth of Willow Movie Theatre. According to her 92-year-old Mom narration, Lynda’s Dad picked up the glass blocks during the demolition of the Willow Movie Theatre. They kept it as a memory of the old times. Lynda Wood Hunt’s parents immigrated to Canada in 1954. Her family lived near Park home Avenue in North York from 1967 until 1995.
Willow Movie Theatre, the first movie theatre in North York, was opened on 18 June 1948 and closed in 1987. It was located on the southeast corner of Yonge Street and Norton Ave, in the Willowdale area. From 1948 to 1987, the Willow Movie Theater brought great pleasure to local people. Its influence wasn't only limited to North York, people who lived in Thornhill, Richmond Hill and Scarborough also come to see movies.
Thanks to Lynda’s family. Their care and attention to glass blocks provide us with an opportunity to see them.
